Ronald LaVerne Turner
MARION: On June 24, 2009 our Loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away. Ron was born in Marion, Ohio to Donna Belle (Weston) and Kenneth Turner on February 25, 1935 (both are deceased.)
He is survived by the love of his life, June L. (Willhoite) Turner, married June 30, 1956. He will be truly missed by his daughters, Renee L. (Turner) Thornton, Lori A. Turner; grandchildren, Andrew C. Crisswell of Colorado, Kelly Jo (Brad) Blumensheid of Ohio, and Jess Lee "Chase" Thornton; great-grandchild, Jackson C. Crisswell also of Colorado. Also brothers, Robert (Norma) Turner of Ohio, Richard Turner (deceased at 42) of Ohio; sister, Marlene (Dan deceased 2000) Fosnaugh of Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Ron was a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1963. He was employed for 32 years at GTE as a draftsman and electrical engineer, 10 years at the Marion Correctional Institute as a high security prison guard. After retiring he and June joined the Whetstone Woodcarving Club in 1997 and retired as president January 2009, due to illness.
For those of you who did not have the honor to know him, Ron was the most caring, honest, and loving person put on this earth, willing to go out of his way to do anything for anyone that needed his love, help, and guidance. He has so many talents, from the most beautiful oil paintings, to amazing and unbelievable woodcarvings that he so enjoyed doing along with his wife.
Ron's family had a closed service Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Boyd-Born Funeral Home, where then he was laid to rest at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your charity of choice in Ronald L. Turner's name.
