MARION: Jay G. Tripp Jr., age 86, of Revere Dr., Marion, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Marion General Hospital. He had congestive heart failure. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to the late Jay G. Tripp Sr. and Ethyl M. (Van Patten) Tripp.

Jay graduated from Upper Arlington High School and The Ohio State University. He also served in WWII going to Utah beach on D-Day +6. Jay was a sales representative for Getreu Hardware Wholesaler and retired from the Marion Correctional Institution after 17 years of service. He also worked as a substitute custodian for the Marion City Schools for 18 years during his retirement. Jay enjoyed golf and was an avid card player.

Jay married his life partner, Carolyn Sue (McGuire) Tripp on March 25, 1950 in Columbus and she survives in Marion. He is also survived by his son, Danial (Candy) of Marion; his daughter, De Ette Tripp of Waldo; and his son, Mike of Marion; and five grandchildren.

As per Jay's wishes no calling hours or public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 870 Michigan Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

The Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home of Marion has been entrusted with the arrangements.
