William Orvel Kempton

 



Marysville - William Orvel Kempton, age 77 of Marysville, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Walnut Crossing in Marysville, Ohio.

William was born on February 6, 1944 to the late Orvel and Freda (Hull) Kempton in Prospect, Ohio. On September 18, 1965, he married Janet Parker in Lewiston, New York.

William belonged to Trinity Baptist Church in Marion, Ohio. He served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and continued to serve for over 30 years in the Air Force Reserves OSI. He also worked for the State of Ohio Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for over 3
0 years. He loved watching the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed talking about the military and politics to anyone who would listen. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He will truly be missed.

William was preceded in death by his parents: Orvel and Freda Kempton.

Those who will cherish his memories include his wife of 55 years: Janet Kempton of Marysville, Ohio; his sons: Michael (Melanie) Kempton of Marysville, Ohio, Todd Kempton of Westerville, Ohio, and Mark (Melissa) Kempton of Columbus, Ohio; and his five granddaughters: Izabel, Mackenzie, Rylee, Caydence, and Kennedy.

Friends and family may come to honor William's life from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow starting at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Daniel McCoy officiating. Burial will follow funeral service at the Prospect Cemetery where the Marion Area Veterans Council will conduct military honors. Joseph A. Belcher

 

MOUNT VERNON Joseph A. Belcher, 82, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon. He was born on May 30, 1939 in Mount Vernon to the late Herman “Doc” and Jean (Vernon) Belcher.

Joe honorably served his country in the Marine Corp. He attended the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon and was a member of the American Legion, the Eagles and the V.F.W in Marion. Joe had worked for Marion Power Shovel, Westinghouse in Columbus and retired from Marion C
orrection. He enjoyed playing golf and softball, coaching baseball and loved to watch and listen to the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns and Indians or anything sports related.

Joe is survived by his children, Sean Belcher of California, Tim Belcher of Mount Vernon, Kelly Lowe of California, Christopher (Michelle) Belcher of Mount Vernon, Andy (Peggy) Belcher of California, Samantha Belcher of Marion and Melinda Russell of Marion; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and a brother, Mark Belcher of Holmesville.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Vanier.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St. Mount Vernon. A private funeral will be held with Mr. Roger Marra officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gambier with Military Honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.

The family would like to the thank Beth, Christina and Amanda from Interim Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Joe.
