Bernie E. Litteral, age 67, of
Marion, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 23, 2018, at home following a brief
illness.
On April 15, 1951, Bernie was born
in Marion, Ohio, the surprise youngest of four children of the late Bernie and
Mildred (Goad) Litteral. He graduated from Marion Harding High School.
Bernie worked at Central Soya and as
a guard at the Marion Correctional Institute. He also was a member of the
AmVets Post 138, and the Moose Lodge. He also recently enjoyed attending
Genesis Church.
One of Bernie’s favorite pastimes
was fishing. He enjoyed casting a line “anywhere there was water and cold
beer.” He also loved spending time with his many dear friends.
One of a kind, there will never be
another Bernie E. Litteral. His family will forever miss him, the fun
loving, outspoken, and cantankerous old cuss that he was.
Left to cherish his memory are his
two daughters: Alisha “Nikki” (fiancĂ© James Saunders) Metzger, and Tamara
Simpkins; seven grandchildren: Ronald (fiancé Ashley Field) Johnson III,
Shantel Johnson, Kyle (Mollie) Johnson, Leandra Phipps, Joshua Montgomery and
Kelli and Eli Saunders; four great-grandchildren: Chase Jenkins, Ariana Wray,
Bentley Correa, and Shaelynn Ross; three sisters: Marie Snyder, Edith Young,
and Linda McCoy; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Oreo.
Services honoring Bernie’s life will
be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018, at his graveside in Grand
Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made
to his family to assist with unexpected expenses.
