Margaret "Peggy" Schuler-Lee

Margaret Lynne "Peggy" Schuler-Lee was born on August 3rd 1954 (her grandfather's 50th birthday) in Marion, Ohio to Margaret Ann (Nan) Luke and Robert A. (Bob) Schuler and passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 14, 2015, at her residence. She was baptized at St. Mary Catholic Church on August 15, 1954 by Father Robert Gately. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, believing that it didn't matter where you went to church, just that you went. She was preceded in death by her mother; Margaret Ann (Nan), brother; Mark Schuler, nephew; Bradley Luke Schuler, and grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Schuler (Della Francis Suter), and Mr. and Mrs. Russell D. Luke (Florence Esther Gallagher), special aunt; Mary Martha Luke passed away in 2005. Loving step mother; Marge Seaburn-Brady Schuler, her father's second wife, passed away in 2007. Also preceding her in death were her in-laws; James and Vera Delle Ryan Lee from Bratenahl Village, Ohio. God parents; Robert D. Luke and Jeanne Todd Languish Luke are also deceased. She is survived by her father; Bob Schuler, sisters; Karen Clabaugh (Joe Szabo), Barb Greetham (Jim), Molly Aden (Steve), ex-brother-in-law; Lynn Clabaugh (Velma), and nieces & nephews; Matthew (wife Rachel and children; Bradley, Alexander, & Ethan), Joshua, Bryant (Daughter; Harper), Josiah, David, Mary Olivia, Jonathan, Corban, and Astoria. God daughter; Jocelyn Marie Owens Franklin. One sister-in-law; Joyce Schuler survives in Muskego, WI. Sister-in-law; Mary Ellen R. Lee-Hiti is deceased (husband; Greg survives in Marion, TX.). Special friends; Maureen Harford, Lynn Owens, Jane Keller, Carl Smith, Terry Haycox, & Linda Huggler Halt are all remembered with love. God bless Peg's Cum Christo prayer group and special friend marge Clark. Special places in Peg's heart include Coudersport, PA., Tennessee (with friends; Steven & Carmen Humes and Father Gary Walters), Young Island and Friend David, Ireland, Hawaii, Austria, and the beautiful friends and time she spent in New Zealand with all of her fellow Altrusans'. Friends from her confinement years are too many to mention ( Father Fred, Pat, Francisco, John D., round figures; 12,000 convicts, etc.) and some that we can't mention. Her friends at OSUM (Yea you Jim) and those playing that good 'ol folk-rock music (Chris, Vern, Vaughn, Bill, and Margie), and OSU with Tysa, Jim, Suzie Cream Cheese, and of course wonderful and special companion; Ken. Peg had many cousins she truly enjoyed spending time with on both sides of the family and she enjoyed her role in keeping up with all of them. Married once on August 6, 1983 to William S. Lee who survives in Marion. Bill and Peg enjoyed many hours of fun, including traveling, cruises, and pyrotechnics. They preformed for a number of years for Bratenahl Village 4th of July celebrations, continuing a Lee family tradition. Peg enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, as well as the organ at St. Mary's. She also participated in the Marion Madrigal Singers for over 20 years. She was a member of "Sing Out Marion"- Up With People. She delighted people on the Palace stage, acting and singing in various productions, and with Junior Service Guild Follies. Her joy was working with Altrusa International, whether at the local, District, or International level. Peg was the Past International Chair of Altrusa International Foundation. Her time on the Foundation Board was most important to her. Her vision of helping people less fortunate than she was always upper most in her mind. Most recently Peg enjoyed working at ballroom dancing at Fred Astaire Studio in Delaware with Dwayne and all the lovely people there. Thanks also to all of her friends at the James Cancer Hospital where Peg was treated for Triple Negative Breast Cancer which eventually took her life. Peg, as she was known to her friends, attended St Mary Grade School and Marion Catholic High School graduating in 1972. She then attended Ohio State University graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor Degree in Sociology. Peg went on to graduate school at the University of Dayton graduating in 1983 earning a Master's Degree in Education. Her work history included Marion County Children's Services, Marion Correctional Institution, and Marion Juvenile Rehabilitation Center. She then decided that working with felons was her life's calling and was blessed by Pete Perini to have a chance to work for the Ohio Dept. of Rehabilitation and Correction for 26 years retiring in 2008 from the London Correctional Institution, after stints at NCCI, MCI, ACI, Central Office Bureau of Labor Relations, FPRC, and ORW. Following retirement she purchased a building in downtown Marion and continued a private counseling agency with friend; Kristen Faine. Journey was open for nine years and served the Marion community in the fight against drug and alcohol addiction. Peg's family will be receiving friends at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Sunday, October 18, 2015, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Father Thomas Buffer will conduct the funeral Mass in the St. Mary Catholic Church on Monday, October 19, 2015, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at a later date in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Peg can be made to the ALS Wisconsin Chapter, the Altrusa International Foundation, Inc. in Chicago, IL., or to the Father Fred Fury Scholarship Fund at St. Mary grade school. All donations can be made c/o the funeral home.
