Sharon Francis

 


Sharon Louise Francis, age 96 of Marion, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Kingston Residence of Marion surrounded by her loving family.

Sharon was born on October 14, 1927 to the late John Davis and Audrey (Wertz) Moon in Marion, Ohio. On January 12, 1948, she married the late Curtis Francis in Marion, Ohio.

Sharon enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians (Guardians) baseball games with her husband, Curtis. She was the supervisor of the Cashier Department of the Marion Correctional Institution and retired after 26 years of service. Curtis and Sharon traveled to many locations throughout the years. She will truly be missed by family and friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Curtis E. Francis; her sister, Joan Bush; her nephews: Richard Michel and Rodney Francis.

Those who will cherish her memories include her children: Mark E. (Pam) Francis of Marion, Ohio, Mike C. (Mary Kay) Francis of Morral, Ohio, Mickey A. Nygaard of Marion, Ohio and Merle D. (Cathie) Francis of Marion, Ohio; her five grandchildren: Jerrit (Lindsay Crane) Francis, Anna (Shawn) George, Krista (Joey) Biederman, Caine White and Adam Francis; her four great grandchildren: Drew Biederman, Adrianna George, Kameron Biederman and Lucas George; her nieces and nephews: Carol (Cecil) Tomsey, Corky (Carolyn) Yager, Craig (Susie) Francis and Carolyn (Byron) Weigler.

Friends and family may come to honor her life from 11am to 1pm on Monday, March 11, 2023 at Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow starting at 1pm at the funeral home with Reverend Jennifer Bass officiating. A burial will follow the funeral service at Grand Prairie Cemetery.

Donations may be given in Sharon’s memory to: Joyce’s Angels of Marion, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Chapel Hill House, Capital City Hospice, and/or Disabled American Veterans.

The family would like to give a big “THANK YOU” to Joyce’s Angels of Marion and the staff at Kingston Residence of Marion for all their compassionate care which was given to Sharon
