Geoffrey, better known as Geoff, was born in Marion, Ohio on May 16, 1952 to the late Rudolph Arthur and Barbara M. (Miller) Scholz. Being a lifelong Marion resident, Geoff attended Pleasant High School graduating in 1970. Geoff spent one year studying at The Mount Vernon Nazarene University and then enlisted US Navy where he was a Boiler Technician.
Being trained as a Boiler Technician in the US Navy, Geoff found his calling working for Marion Correctional Institute in the Powerhouse retiring as a supervisor. Not being able to sit still after his retirement, Geoff returned to work at MCI in the Powerhouse helping to maintain the boilers and electrical equipment.
Geoff was a quiet and giving man, who would occasionally crack a joke. He was loyal to a fault making sure his family was always safe, protected, and taken care of. He could often be found spending countless hours with his daughters and granddaughter. Geoff frequently attended car shows and had a love for classic Shelby Mustangs.
Geoff is survived by daughters, Mallory (Anthony) Caeton of Marion and Hillary Scholz of Marion; granddaughter, Rory Caeton; brother, Kim (Karol) Scholz of Sunbury; and sister, Rebecca S. (John) Shipman of Edison; and the mother of his children, Teresa Haverstock.

Visitation will be held at the Marion First Church of the Nazarene, 233 W Church St, from 4 until 7 pm on Friday, September 29, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11:30 am at the church Saturday, September 30, 2017 with Rev. Jan Winnale officiating. Military honors will be presented by The Marion County United Veterans Council and burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
