Michael D. Allen




MARION: Michael D. Allen age 60 of
Marion, Ohio passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his residence.

He was born
September 16, 1955 in Kenton, Ohio to the late Joe D. and Rose L. (Lamb) Allen.

Michael was employed as corrections officer and a captain at M.C.I. in
Marion. On his off time enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on cars.

He is survived by his daughter, Brandy Belcher of Marion, six grandchildren, Dalton L. Allen-Schuster, Chelsie D. Allen-Schuster, Harley D. Belcher, Erica R. Belcher, Alexis O. Allen, Hailey Allen, three great grandchildren, Nevaeh L. Belcher, Aryannah C. Allen-Schuster, Ariyan D. Allen-Schuster, his brother, Jerry Allen of Dola, OH., and his sister, Patty Haney of McDuffy, OH. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David E. Allen, his first wife, Sandy G. (Hoag) Allen and his second wife, Jennifer J. (Judy) Allen.

Paul B. McGarvey





MARION: Paul B. McGarvey, age 82 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday June 22, 2016 at the Marion Manor.

Paul was born on
July 10, 1933 in Columbus, the son of John and Helen McGarvey. Paul graduated from Holy Rosary High School in the class of 1952. Paul was a very hard worker all of his life. He started as a shoe salesman at Gilbert's Shoes. He then transitioned to Bargain City, Miller's Department Store and then the Sutton and Lightner store. Later on he ran the Matador Club on West Center Street for 10 years. Paul retired from the Marion Correctional Institution after 22 years of devoted service.

Paul was a gifted musician, playing drums for the Muscat Ramblers; jazz was his passion. He was also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns. He was a spiritual man, attending St.
Mary Church for three decades and most recently attending the Prospect Street United Methodist Church. Paul was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles, Moose Lodge and the Elks.

He is survived by three nieces and two nephews; his sister-in-law Olga McGarvey and his devoted caregiver Linda Spillman-Kear.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents; his companion from his early years Bernetta McGary; his wife Rosetta (Midkiff) McGarvey; his golden years soul mate Grace Spillman; brother Patrick Lawrence and lifelong childhood friend Fred Russell.

Visitation will be held on
Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 West Center St. Marion from 10 to 11:30AM; Funeral services will follow at 11:30AM with Pastor Joe Miller officiating; Burial will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery.

If so desired, donations may be made to the Prospect Street United Methodist Church Prison Ministry.
