Timothy G. Anthony





MARION: Timothy G. Anthony, age 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior on
March 16, 2013.

Born
January 15, 1947 in Marion, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Evelyn (Pierce) Anthony, Tim married the former Sharon Mullins on December 26, 1965. Upon graduating from Marion Harding High School in 1965, Tim enlisted in the United States Navy as a Communications Technician, later becoming an Ocean Systems Technician. He held positions in the contiguous United States, Japan, the Turk Islands and Hawaii and served as a submariner on the USS ASPRO. He completed his 20 year career in 1985 as a recruiter in Marion and Columbus. Following his Navy career, Tim held positions at McDaniel's Motors, McDonald's Management and Marion General Hospital. He again retired in 2009 from a second 22 year career as a Food Service Manager with the Marion Correctional Institution. He was a member of the Marion Evening Lion's Club and volunteered many hours to multiple organizations such as Kairos (prison ministry), AmVets and Emmaus. Tim is remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor and genuine smile. He loved eating, watching the Food Channel, eating, preparing the best deep-fried turkey and BBQ ribs in town, fising and …eating. Over the past 35 years he held several positions at Good Faith Baptist Church including Treasurer and Deacon and was an ordained Minister. Tim is currently enjoying the fruits of his labor and feasting at God's table in Heaven.

Tim was preceded in death by his brother, Joel Anthony in 1995.

Surviving with his wife, Sharon; are his daughter, Vicki L.; his son, Sergeant First Class Jeffrey L. (Heather) Anthony; his five grandchildren, Megan, Colton, AlexAndrea, Cayden and Ashlynn; a great-grandchild, Aaron; his sister, Mary Anderson; and his in-laws, Rev. Lee (Lois) Mullins; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday from
5 PM until 8 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Barkley Slone officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the Marion County Joint Veteran's Council.

Randy Lee Messenger





MARION: Randy Lee Messenger, age 58, of Marion passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 8:25 p.m. in the Riverside Hospital, Columbus.

He was born in
Marion, Ohio on August 20, 1954 to the late Charles Edwin and Marjorie Vivian (Stevens) Messenger. Randy married the former Sharon Kay Orr in Marion on August 30, 1999 and she survives. He was an avid golfer and an exceptional bowler where he achieved several 300 games. Randy also enjoyed and entertained people while singing kareoke. He was employed for 30 years as a corrections officier with Marion Correctioal Institutrion before retiring in 2008.

Surviving along with his wife, Sharon; are two daughters, Tracy L. (Jason) Williams of Marion, Oh. and Holly (Nathan) Sandusky of Richwood, Oh.; nine grandchildren, Dominique, Sierrah, Brock, Nathan, Camron, Colton, Isaiah, Quinton, & Gabriel; two brothers, Steve Messenger & Doug (Kathy) Messenger both of Marion, Oh.; a niece, Missy Messenger, and a nephew, Mike Messenger.

Joan H. Keen






MARION: Joan H. Keen, age 78, of Marion passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 2:00 a.m. in the Marion Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in
Cincinnati, Ohio on May 24, 1934 to Charles and Helen (Young) Fish. Joan married Shelby Keen in Rayville, Louisiana on March 27, 1954 and he survives.

Before her retirement, she was employed as a corrections officier for the State of
Ohio working at both Marysville and Marion Correctional Institution.

Surviving along with her husband; Shelby are a son; Gary Lee (Linda) Keen of Petersburg, Va., a daughter; Deborah Cornely of Marion, Oh.; four brothers, Charles Fish of Ft. Pierce, Fl., David (Linda) Fish of Delaware, Oh., Bill (Becky) Fish of Delaware, Oh., and Jerry Fish of Marion, Oh.; a sister, Sylvia L. (Rick) Fosnaugh Of Marion, Oh.; a daughter-in-law; Gayle Keen of Marion, Oh.; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Carry R. Keen; a great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, JoAnn Fish.

The family will be receiving friends on
Tuesday, March 19th, 2013, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens. Pastor Dwight Hord will officiate.

Kevin Phillip Shafer



Kevin Phillip Shafer

WALDO: Kevin Phillip Shafer, age 49, of Waldo passed away on
Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 4:52 p.m. in The Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus.

He was born in
St. Paul, Minnesota on September 5, 1963 to the late Keith P. & Jacqueline (Dardis) Shafer. On March 24, 2012 Kevin married the former Rebecca Sue Withrow in Fiji and she survives. He has worked for nearly 22 years as a labor relations officier for the State of Ohio working at both the Marion Correctional Institution and the offices of Job & Family Services.

Surviving along with his wife, Rebecca; are three stepsons, Jackson & Grant Gooding at home and Jeremy Jenkins of Marysville, Oh.; two stepdaughters, Gabrielle Gooding at home and Ashley Byrd of Marion, Oh.; four brothers, Greg (Deborah) Shafer of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Keith Shafer Jr. of Luck, Wi., Tim Shafer of Westerville, Oh., & Brett Shafer of Waverly, Oh.; one sister, Susan (Edward) Zollman of St. Paul Park, Mn.; a granddaughter, Olivia Jenkins; two nieces, Nikki (Aaron) Trudeau & Sherri Shafer, and a nephew, Tim Shafer Jr.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lori Ann Shafer.

Calling hours will be held in the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on
Tuesday, March 5, 2013, from 3-6 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Kevin's life will follow calling hours at 6:00 p.m.Tuesday.
