Robert Patterson

Robert R. Patterson age 64 of Marion, Ohio went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 22, 2011.
He was born January 8, 1947 in Marietta, Ohio to Mary E. (Becker) and Robert L. Patterson.
On August 19, 1996 he married Marilyn D. (Rutledge) Patterson, in Petersburg, TN.

Robert was formerly employed at Marion Correctional Institution for 17 years, having worked at other institutions for several years. He was a faithful member of United Pentecostal Church of God on Fountain St., and prior to that Trinity Gospel Tabernacle in Galion, Ohio. Robert was a decorated soldier of the Vietnam War and was proud to have served his country.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Patterson of Marion, OH., daughter, Lori (Mark) Keppler of Greencamp, OH., stepdaughter, Chasity L. Craig of Marion, OH., four grandchildren, two step grandchildren and two great grandchildren, sisters, Betty Thompson of Mansfield, OH., Lottie Jean (Joseph) Click of Galion, OH., Ruth (John L.) Browning of Ottawa, W.VA., Nora (William) Riner of Shelbyville, TN., Georgie Dotterer of Shelbyville, TN., and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Patterson, mother and stepfather, Mary and Albert Mitchell, and his son, Robert R. Patterson II.

Funeral Services for Robert will be held Friday, August 26, 2011 @ 1 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery, with military rites performed by the Marion County Veterans Council. Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2011 from 5 - 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.

John E. Soper



MARION: John E. Soper, age 82, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011 in Marion.

Born September 12, 1928 in Washington D.C. the son of Charles and Sarah Staant Soper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glendora Spradlin Soper in 2001.

A graduate of Washington High School of the District of Columbia, and Arizona State University.

Mr. Soper retired from the Marion Correctional Institute also Marion General Hospital and Kroger in Marion. A member of the US Air Force from 1951-1961 and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his children, Laura (Doug) Fleming of Marion and Mark Sopor of Columbus; grandchildren, Stephanie Soper and John Soper; and a sister, Shirley Soper.

Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Littleton Funeral Home, Sabina. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Highlawn Cemetery, Washington C.H., OH.
