MARION: Clair Eugene Shenefield, age 81, of 873 Daffodil Drive, Marion, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. in the Marion General Hospital after battling a one year illness.

He was born on March 14, 1928 in Galia Co., Ohio to the late Clair F. and Amy (Davis) Shenefield. On August 11, 1959 he married the former Martha E. Beale in Marion and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Mike (Debbie) Shenefield of Marion, OH, and Raymond (Karen) Taylor of Pickerington, OH; four daughters, Helen (Tad Robbinson) Combs of Mt. Gilead, OH, Sue (Jody) Graber of Marion, OH, Libby Taylor of Delaware, OH, and Sharon Utley of Marion, OH; one brother, Lou (Joyce) Shenefield of Arcadia, Fla.; one sister, Helen Hall of Marion, OH; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Shenefield.

Clair was employed as a supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 1989, with the Marion Correctional Institution. Following his employment with M.C.I., he worked for 20 years with the Marion County Litter Control and retired in the spring of 2009. Clair served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII, was a member of V.F.W. Post 3313, American Legion Post 162, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The funeral service will be conducted by Chaplin Daniel Kiger on Friday, November 27, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Donations in Clair's name may be made to the American Lung Association.

MARION: Richard "Dick" E. Green, 79, passed away at Marion General Hospital Tuesday evening, November 17, 2009. He was born August 3, 1930 to Lamoyne and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Green. He married Jacqueline Price in Marion on August 16, 1951.

Dick was an Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He was employed for twenty-eight years with MCI and 37 years with Clark Metal. As an avid gardener he enjoyed spending time working in his garden which was appreciated by many throughout the community.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; a son, Kevin Green; two daughters, Kathy Weston, and Sarah (Kent) Smith; seven grandchildren, Tisha (Bart) Green Rinker, Gretchen (Matt) McCreary, Jennifer Green, Rachelle (Tobie) Weston Needels, Jared Weston, Abby (Justin) Weston Vanderhoff, and Tiffany (Ed) Merritt; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Acker, and Susan (Scott) Braumiller; and a brother, Joe (Nancy) Green.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Pat McCurdy; and his daughter, Connie Green.

There will be a funeral service held Friday, November, 20, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. led by Pastor Mark Schuring at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge; military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Marion County Veterans Council. Loved ones and friends can share their condolences with the Green family at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home, Thursday, November 19 from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers for the service will be Matt McCreary, Tobie Needels, Bart Rinker, Darin Murphy, Jared Weston, and Justin Vanderhoff.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dick may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church.
