CALEDONIA - Robert Thomas Hartle, 87, of Caledonia, passed away Thursday evening March 26, 2009 at Marion General Hospital. He was born August 2, 1921 in Marion to Pearl T. and Susan E. (Detwiler) Hartle. He married Pauline Alice Dall on May 14, 1953 at the Green Camp Baptist Church. Robert and Pauline have had 55 wonderful years together.
Robert was a member of Fairpark Baptist Church and their Men's Fellowship group. He was a WWII and Korean War veteran. He worked as a foreman for 32 years with City Products and then worked 16 years as a corrections officer with Marion Correctional Institute.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; two sons, James A. (Linda) Hartle, and John T. Hartle of Marion; two grandchildren, Curtis and Janelle Bowman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Susan; two brothers, William and Addison (Ruth) Hartle; five sisters, Ruby Hartle, Alma (Ed) Rowley, Jane (Steve) Kuhar, Edith (Tom) Darnell, and Betty (Ralph) Justice; a brother-in-law, William (Ruby) Dall; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn (Charles) Steffy.
Calling hours will be from 4-8 pm, Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 31 at 3 pm with Reverend Kenneth Durtsche officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Camp Cemetery and military honors will be performed by the Marion County United Veteran Council.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairpark Baptist Church.

MARION - Carl Warren Beers, age 82, of Marion, died Thursday afternoon at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.He was born on the family farm on December 7, 1926, to the late Carl E. and Beulah (Strickler) Beers.
Carl served his country proudly in the Army, during World War II.
He married the former Barbara George, and she preceded him in death on January 22, 1979.
Carl was employed at Marion Correctional Institution as an OPI officer, supervising the inmates in the workshop.
He will be dearly missed by his two children, Janette Hill of Marion and James (Muriel) Beers of Lithopolis; seven grandchildren, Peggy (fiancé Rob Bushatz) Hill, Craig (Tiffany) Hill, Sheri (Mark) Flowers, Bradley Beers, Megan Beers, Ryan Beers and Jacob Beers.
Memorial services for Carl will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Liberty United Methodist Church, Kirkpatrick, with the Rev. John Grimm officiating, and the family will receive friends from 3:00 till the time of service.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, March 23, 2009, in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens with military honors provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council.

MARYSVILLE - Raymond Merle "Sam" Hickok, age 84 of Delaware Co. Line Rd., Marysville, died Thursday evening, March 19, 2009 at the Sarah Moore Home and Health Care Center, Delaware. He was born September 17, 1924 in Coleman, Michigan to the late George A. and Allie Mae (Cary) Hickok.A veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII, he was a member of Magnetic Springs United Methodist Church and the Sunbury Riding Club. He enjoyed traveling, one of his favorite destinations being Walt Disney World. He worked for NOBA Inc. in Tiffin and later for Marion Correctional Institution as a Corrections Officer, where he had been the recipient of the Outstanding Officer Award. He was an excellent marksman and was proud of his collections of coins, bottles, Indian relics and metal toys. He as an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and OSU Mens Basketball.
On May 6, 1948 he married the former Geraldine Davids and she survives after 60 years of marriage. He is also survived by two daughters, Ann (Gary) Fetters, DeBary, FL, and their children, Elliot and Travis; Margaret (Brad) Loring, Winter Springs, FL and their children, Nicholas and Jennifer; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Hickok, Mt. Gilead.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood where friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. Pastor Mo Dunn will officiate and burial will be in Claibourne Cemetery.
